Controller – Full time
We are a SaaS company in Washington D.C. specializing in legal tech, currently experiencing
rapid growth. We are looking for a full time Controller to join our accounting and finance team
reporting to the VP Finance. The candidate must have solid communication, technology,
analytical and management skills. Candidates should possess knowledge of all aspects of U.S.
GAAP. The ideal candidate should be proactive & self-motivated, demonstrate a propensity for
learning, a team player and ability to work effectively with the team in all levels of the
organization.
Responsibilities of the Controller
Overseeing and leading all accounting operations including financial reporting, cost
accounting, budgeting, tax compliance and revenue recognition
Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an
accurate accounting of consolidated business & financial reports
Assisting with audit requests; prepare and complete stand-alone audited financial
statements and footnote preparation in collaboration with various external auditors and
internal support teams
Providing the management team with information vital to the decision-making process
Managing the forecasting & budget process
Evaluating current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement,
and implementing new processes
Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliances
Performing additional duties as assigned or required
Assisting with consolidating and restating financials of acquired companies
Qualifications of the Controller
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA preferred but not required.
5+ years progressive experience in accounting management roles
Experience working with in SaaS and / or with a private technology firm. Start-up/small
fast-growing private company experience a plus
Extensive knowledge of U.S GAAP and compliance regulations and requirements for
financial reporting
Track record of building, developing and leading high-performance accounting teams in a
fast-paced organization
Experience in CRM & ERP systems and accounting systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite,
FinancialForce or similar) is required. Experience with Salesforce a significant plus.
Experience integrating CRM and ERP systems also beneficial.
Experience in designing and implementing accounting processes and controls
High attention to detail, organized with exceptional time-management skill to meet
multiple deadlines-driven projects
Strong communication skills to be able to present ideas to management clearly and work
collaboratively with different team
Must be a problem solving, self-starter who possesses strong communication and
interpersonal skills including the ability to be persistent, yet supportive to perform the
above responsibilities.
